Smiths Lake Landcare & Regeneration
The Smiths Lake Landcare and Regeneration group is one of the village's most active and well-supported volunteer programs. Meeting every Monday morning at designated works sites around the foreshore, village green spaces and bush walking trails, the group tackles weed removal and bush regeneration in focused, productive sessions โ followed by a picnic morning tea or a visit to a local cafรฉ.
The work makes a genuine difference. Invasive weeds are a significant threat to the native bushland surrounding Smiths Lake, and consistent, coordinated removal by a committed volunteer group is the most effective way to address them. The results are visible right across the foreshore and village green spaces.
How It Works
- Works sites are advised each Sunday by email, so participants always know where to head the following morning
- Sessions run 8:00am to 10:00am every Monday, finishing in time for a well-earned break together
- Tools and gloves are provided by MidCoast Council โ just turn up ready to get stuck in
- Morning tea picnic or cafรฉ visit is a regular reward after each session
Who Is It For
All ages and abilities are welcome. Whether you are a seasoned bush regenerator or have never pulled a weed in your life, the group will welcome you and make you feel at home. Many members have years of experience; others join for the first time and never look back.
